Now a private residence on the grounds of the original castle, the still retains parts of the castle's structure. In 1330 through marriage the castle became co-owned with the Schweppermann family.

In the war of succession the castle was conquered by the city of Nurnberg, who sold it in 1529. In 1730 it became the property of Cristoph Stromer and is til now in the possession of the Baron Stromer von Reichenbach. The castle was destroyed in 1504 and rebuilt. Around 1710 it underwent expansion.
