This is considered one of the finest examples of the medieval art of fortification. The palace tower (larger Keep) now serves as a museum and both the larger and smaller keeps are preserved. So is the ringwall. The outer ringwall with half-round towers emerged around 1500. The inner ringwall dates from its earliest date, around 1200.
