Lauenstein is nestled in the hills at the northern-most point of Bavaria and is a beautiful site to behold. This is another example of a fairy tale look in a genuine castle. However, the view that is most attractive, as seen in this scene, is difficult to find. It is off the main road and I had to negotiate some agricultural field roads at the other side of the little village at the foot of the castle to get to this vantage point. It is just west of highway 85 with the turn-off just short of the railroad depot. I have never been inside, having always had the misfortune of being in the area at times when the interior was closed. |
